There are many ways to promote your auctions. Here are a few we find works well.
Create your About Me Page:Click here to set it up. Use this page to promote your items and yourself as a seller. If you are looking for trades or items this is also the place to do it. After you've create your page, promote it! Give your About Me Page url out to people and let them know you are selling! You'd be surprised how many people will check it out.
List Your Auction On the GemStone Message Boards! This is a big one! There are a few good GS3 Message Boards out there. Make sure to list your Auction on any of them that allow it. List how many items and when it the auctions end. Make sure to announce every few days and don't forget to announce on the last day that the auctions will close in a few hours! (Last minute bidding will do wonders) Write up something like this:
Huge Auction! All items close on Sept. 1st so hurry and bid now!
Visit http://YourPersonalAuctionLink to see all the items and bid.
Over 40 items listed, here are a few:
1. Some great falchion with amazing powers
2. A beautiful gown made of something or other
3. Some armor enchanted to 6x and such
4. A necklace of rubies altered to be better
Basicly just list a few (or all) of your items to get people interested.
Put your personal auction link in your signature on the GS3 Message Boards Tons of people forget this one. A simple blurb saying "Check out the items I am selling! Visit: http://YourPersonalAuctionURL" is all it takes. People love to shop, might as well shop your stuff.
Put your personal auction link on your homepage Tons of people forget this one too. Make sure to put your link in a good spot and let people know about it.
Announce on the Landing Amunet Because this is an out of game auction you can't just announce your link on the amunet. But you can do this:
Think this on the net: "I'm having a huge auction with over 40 items. If you want directions to it think to me and I will send you a runner".
When people think to you just think back to them with your URL. This usually works well. Make sure to do it at different times of the day to get the most people possible.
Tips on making your auction work:
Keep the length of time resonable: Make sure the length of the auction is not too long. Listing most of your items for 7-14 days is best. For bigger items, those in the millions that might not sell so fast, 30 days might be ok.
Don't be worried about no bids/low bids: Waiting to the last minute to bid is what most people do, so if you only have a few bids remember, the last day (last few hours) will probably get you more bids. Make sure to announce on the amunet and message boards your auction is ending that day!
Post as much detail as possible about your item: You may not think that a cloak opening or closing is a big deal but it is to some. Make sure you list every bit of info you have about your items. The more info the better, no matter how small. That one bit of info could mean the difference between 10k bid and a 100k bid. Weight, how much it holds, weighting level, padding level, type of padding & weighting, any/all scripts, special magic, and even where it came from if you know.
Answer buyer's questions: When a person sends you a question about your items make sure to answer them as soon as possible with the best answer you can. Most people who ask a question usually will wait to hear an answer before bidding so the sooner you answer the more likely it is they will bid on your item. Replying quickly also shows them you are on top of things and someone that is most likely going to follow through if they win.
